Why skin dries out
Humid air does not moisturise the skin: water evaporates, and wet shoes keep the skin soft all day before it hardens again. Air conditioning adds dryness, so feet need care no less than in the dry season.
If cracks are deep and painful, see a doctor first. The technician can work on hard skin but does not treat cracks.

At home
- Dry your shoes and socks; do not wear wet ones all day.
- Foot cream at night, but not on the gel.
- Do not cut cracks or calluses at home.
- Change socks every day.
Keep a second pair of shoes and change them when they get wet. Cotton socks dry faster than synthetic ones. If a heel crack hurts when you walk, see a doctor rather than covering it with gel.
Book in the morning if your feet swell during the day. A dry window between showers is better than a heavy-rain day, mostly for comfort on the way.
