Three options
Gel-X uses pre-shaped tips that are applied and covered with gel. Builder gel and acrylic are sculpted by hand. Gel-X is lighter and faster; builder and acrylic are stronger for bigger shape changes.

Extensions last longer than a regular gel manicure but need a fill as the nail grows. Length and shape matter: long nails catch on things more often.
If it is your first set, choose a short or medium length. Long extensions look striking but catch on bags and seat belts more often.
